課程概述

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the fundamental concepts and theories of public administration.  

課程目標
The objectives of the course are for you to gain an overview of both issues and practices related to the public administration. The course focuses on the environment, values, and core functions of public administration.
We will explore: (1) how various government agencies run; (2) dynamics between government and politics; (3) relationships between government, market, civil society, and citizens. 
課程要求
1. Participation: Students are expected to read the weekly assignments and to participate actively in class discussions, debates, and simulations.

2. Midterm: Midterm exam will be short essay format (Take-home). You will be asked to identify and analyze some key concepts in public administration, according to the class reading. Please submit your exam answers via NTU COOL.

3. Final Paper: Final paper will be an essay format and comprehensive (Take-home). You will be asked to identify and analyze some key concepts and policy tools in public administration, according to the class reading and activities. Please submit your exam answers via NTU COOL.

4. Provision of Feedback
To ensure the quality of learning, for memo and paper assessments: we will provide group feedback on overall student performance within one week. Individual feedback on student
performance on the memo and paper may be provided within 2-3 weeks.

Students are required to read the assigned text BEFORE class; however, essential material will be highlighted in class. The class meetings will consist of a combination of lecture, case discussion, debate, simulation, and group exercises. This course encourages a high degree of student participation, active learning, and group problem solving to enhance the learning process. This is facilitated by an open, constructive class environment.
